As a PhD student in the SNS-project "Interaction and Architecture" (IntAkt) at the University of Zurich, my focus is on computer mediated communication in institutional settings. Using methods of linguistics and interactional analysis with a special focus on space/architecture, I am interested in language as a resource for situational anchoring and positioning in videoconference communication. This is particularly interesting from an interactional analysis point of view, because the participants need to establish a common interactional space although they aren't bodily co-present and don't share the same architectural environment. With my research, I aim to contribute to a better understanding of changing communicative practices in institutional settings.

Regarding Language&Medicine, I am, together with Heiko Hausendorf, interested in empirical case studies on talking therapy sessions conducted via videoconferencing (tele-copresence) during the pandemic, and on the close connection between institutional architecture and interaction in the hospital (with its prototypical movable equipment in different rooms such as the operating room or a patient room) as a telling case in respect.
