I am a clinical scientist who is interested in better understanding the fluctuating nature of suicidal thoughts. As a clinical psychologist and postdoctoral research fellow at the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland, I work with patients and listen to patients – in the most literal sense of the word. Suicide risk might be predictable from how language is being used, how individuals at risk communicate (see our review), and how vocal and facial features change when we communicate (see our study). In our current study, MULTICAST, we use digital technologies to capture an array of features including language, vocal, and facial features with the aim to develop a more holistic prediction model that better predicts suicidal thoughts.
