Brigitte Tag, Prof. Dr. iur. utr.

  • Faculty of Law

Prof. Dr. Brigitte Tag is a professor at the University of Zurich in criminal law, criminal proceeding law and medical law. Among many other functions she is the Chairwoman of the Management Board of the Center of Competence Medicine – Ethics – Law Helvetiae (MERH) and the Program Director of the PhD program "Biomedical Ethics and Law, Law Track” as well as a member of the Swiss National Advisory Commission on biomedical ethics. Even in the field of law the topic of language in medicine plays a big role. Questions as to whether an informed consent is given due to a linguistically comprehensible way of telling a patient about potential procedures, risks etc., but also questions regarding how the appropriate language can prevent compensation damages are proof of the relevance of language in medical law. Through the interdisciplinary approach of the Language&Medicine Competence Center, Prof. Dr. Brigitte Tag hopes that we will find ways to significantly promote patient health across subject-specific boundaries.
