Following his undergraduate (2014, University of Zagreb, Croatia) and graduate (2016, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany) studies in computer science, Pavo Orepić completed his PhD in neuroscience at the EPFL in Switzerland in 2020. As part of his doctorate, he spent 6 months working at the Department of Neurosurgery at Ohio State University, USA, as well as realized several clinical projects with the neurosurgery department of the University Hospital in Geneva and with the Psychiatric University Hospital "Vrapce" in Zagreb, Croatia. His PhD was nominated for several awards at EPFL, including the one for the best PhD of the year. His research has already been recognized on a world-wide level and he was interviewed by several high-profile media outlets, including The New York Times twice. In June 2024, he finished his first postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, where he analyzed intracranial EEG signals in patients with pharmacoresistant epilepsy, with the aim of uncovering the neural correlates of speech and imagined speech. In September 2024, he started working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Zurich, where he is developing a voice synthesizer for natural self-voice perception.
