Katharina Schultebraucks is Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Population Health at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Co-Director of the Computational Psychiatry Program. Her research approaches mental disorders from a translational, multi-systems perspective, integrating neuroendocrine, molecular, cellular, and genetic pathways with behavioural measures. A primary focus is precision psychiatry: advanced computational and machine learning methods are applied to longitudinal and prospective cohorts to identify early predictors of posttraumatic stress disorder and related outcomes, with the aim of improving individualised risk stratification and treatment allocation. A second strand develops digital phenotyping and digital biomarkers, including computer vision and multimodal analysis of microbehaviour, as objective markers of stress reactivity and resilience. Findings from this work have appeared in Nature Medicine, JAMA Psychiatry, and Molecular Psychiatry, and the research programme is currently supported by two NIH R01 grants and a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.
